Original Title: Windows 10 has changed everything. Help.Hello there, I'm hoping someone can help my girlfriend and I out. So she recently purchased a Wacom Intuos Tablet CTL 490 and we installed the drivers and all but it didn't work. We tried calling Wacom and they said it could be the wire doesn't work so wereplaced it but it was still doing the same thing, just blinking and not reading on the laptop.
I suggested it could just be the usb ports but we tried some usb flashdrives and they worked. We've tried installing different drivers, we tried stopping the serviceand starting it up again, uninstalling and reinstalling and honestly we don't feel it's the Wacom tablet. We feel it's windows 10 because ever since the update even the xbox 360 wired controller we have doesn't work anymore. Yet flashdrives do? It makes nosense. She had windows 8.1 but ever since she upgraded to windows 10 the xbox 360 doesn't work anymore but it still lights up so its not broken. So we need some help, I recently bought her another tablet because maybe we just got a defective product but even this one doesn't work either.
We've checked if windows 10 has anymore updates but the laptop is already up to date.Help? She has an HP Pavilion 17 notebook by the way. Hi,Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Let me help you.Have you tried installing the drivers in compatibility mode?
Hi, I'm quite new to graphic tablet and these question keep rising. If a pen that come with a model 'Intuos Pen S, CTL-4100WL' break, could it be or replaceable by any Wacom pen or do I need to look for specific version? I looked at the specification of the pen that come with the model I mentioned and it's say ' Wacom Pen 4K (LP-1100K)' but I try to look at a pen product page at Wacom website, all i see is Bamboo pen.Is every nib in the market (Standard Nib/Hard Felt Nib/Flex Nib/Stroke Nib) compatible with every pen of every Wacom product? Eg: if I buy a standard black nib, will it also work with the pen that come with Intuos Pen S and Intuos Pro?.I've seen a lot of people use trimmer line/plastic to make self made nib. How is this possible?
Will it damage the tablet surface? The just need the plastic touching the surface to work?.when should I consider replacing nib with the new one?.Is the same pen work across all Wacom product? Or even other graphic/drawing tablet of other brand?.what's recommend way to prolong the life of nib and tablet surface? Because nib is quite expensive.Thank you in advance. If the pen breaks from normal use, you should be covered under the 1 year warranty to get it replaced. If it breaks from user error, then it is not covered by the warranty and you will have to buy a replacement pen.
However, like you noticed, there is no replacement pen on the Wacom store yet. It should be available eventually but I have no idea when specifically.2) Right now, there are two types of Wacom nibs: 'Older generation' nibs (Link: ), and Pro Pen 2 nibs (Link: ). All Wacom devices that don't use the newest Pro Pen 2 use the 'older generation' nibs.Off the top of my head, the Wacom tablets that use the Pro Pen 2 are: Intuos Pro (PTH-660/PTH-860), Cintiq Pro 13/16/24, MobileStudio Pro 13/16.Aside from those Wacom tablets, the rest should all use the 'older generation' nibs, counting the Wacom Intuos S (CTL-4100WL)3) You can look up videos on how to do it on Youtube, but I suggest against it, especially the spaghetti noodle one. The spaghetti noodles can snap inside the pen and become impossible to remove, while the trimmer line can permanently scratch and ruin the tablet's surface if not smoothed properly. You decide whether it's worth the risk or not, but I personally don't think it's worth it.4) You only need to replace it if you notice it getting in the way of your drawing, like if you notice the nib rolling over a flat side during your stroke causing uneven lines. You don't need to replace the nib if it's not getting in the way of your drawing. However, with that said, you should replace the nib before it gets so worn out that you can't pull it out of the pen anymore. Just replace it when you feel like it.5) Wacom pens only work with specific models.
The Wacom Intuos S only works with the LP-1100K pen, and no other pen. You should expect no other pens to work with the Wacom tablet except the one which comes with it originally.Other brands are much the same where pens only work with (or work best with) the tablets they're made for.6) In the Wacom tablet settings, you will want to set the Tip Feel in the Pen settings section to as 'soft' as possible without completely losing pen pressure. Well, look at the standard plastic replacement nib. It is exactly what it looks like; it's literally just a plastic stick. The basic idea of how a tablet pen works is that there is a spring behind the nib which gets pushed when you draw on the nib, and that spring is what measures pen pressure.
The nib is not some amazing piece of technology which measures pen pressure. It's literally just a plastic stick. What this means is that anything will work as a nib as long as it fits in the pen. All it needs to do is push on the spring to measure pen pressure when you're drawing. However, the hackjob nib materials like spaghetti and trimmer wire have their risk.-Spaghetti for instance is brittle so it's possible that it will break inside the pen, effectively making the pen useless as you won't be able to pull out the spaghetti and put in a new nib.-Trimmer wire can be risky as well because it's a much harder material than the standard plastic nibs, meaning it's possible that it can scratch the tablets surface if it's not smoothed properly. This can permanently damage the tablet surface and cause noticeable gouges on the tablet surface which your pen will get caught on while drawing.I recommend just buying the normal nibs offered by Wacom. It's not like it costs too much, and you'll probably only need to buy a pack of 5 nibs for 5 USD every few months. Surely, that isn't too big a cost to swallow every few months? (Although with that said, I think the nibs are stupidly overpriced, because why the heck does that small plastic stick cost 1 USD?).
